ISLA PATTERSON RESUME
Isla Patterson studied art in South Australia
with Trevor Clare and watercolours with Ruth Tuck in the early 1970’s
and spent three years in the USA where she continued her art studies,
belonged to the International Art Society and held her first solo
exhibition. Isla has lived in the ACT since 1979 and over this period
has developed a reputation as an artist, known especially for her
distinctive depictions of the local scene and, although proficient in
most mediums, she prefers the delicacy of watercolours. She has
exhibited in seventeen solo shows at the local galleries and in NSW during this
period, has won many awards in Canberra and interstate and has painted
numerous commissions including buildings such as the Canberra Times at
Fyshwick, ACT. She has paintings in private and public collections
throughout Australia and in many overseas countries. Included in these
countries are the USA, France, Germany, Nigeria, South Africa, the UK,
Scotland and Ireland. Isla is represented in local and interstate
galleries and belongs to the Artist Society of Canberra, is a signatory
member of the Australian
Guild of Realist Artists and the Art in Miniature Group, ACT. Reference
